“Navigating the Nowhere Between Two Somewheres”— Aligning Individual Transition with Organization Change

Organization change is difficult at best, and often, assumes organization members are “on board” and capable of implementing the envisioned change. This, of course, is often not the case, and the change effort is less than optimally executed, or fails completely. This workshop is for individuals or teams interested in improving the success of organization change. Participants will explore the following areas, ultimately developing a specific plan to navigate the “nowhere” between the two “somewheres.”

  • The Adult Cycle of Renewal—Put the power of where you are in the Cycle of Renewal to work in achieving your goals
  • Values—What you value forms the basis for your actions. Are your values in line with your behaviors?
  • Goal Setting—Develop a system for developing and monitoring personal and professional goals
  • Thinking Skills and Mental Models—Learn how to employ new thinking skills for developing more innovative and complete solutions. Are your mental models serving you or hindering you in accomplishing your goals?
  • Transitions—Understand the significance of transitions and how to navigate them successfully
  • Gifts & Talents—Recognize your gifts and talents and how to put them to the greatest use in realizing your dreams and goals
  • Purpose—Explore your purpose at this time in your life. Are you living your life “on purpose?"
  • Develop a personal plan and specific actions to achieve your immediate and longer-term goals

This workshop is offered in a 2-day workshop format and a 4-day retreat format. The 4-day retreat allows participants greater inquiry and involvement in each subject area, more extensive small group activity, and more time for individual reflection and plan development.

Managing Organization Transitions

Most organizational change is never fully implemented, or in many cases, is an abysmal failure. This one-half day or one day workshop provides participants with knowledge and tools for managing the transition process associated with implementing organizational change—significantly increase the probability of a successful change process.

Managing Individual Transitions in Organizations

Organizational life is dynamic, complex, challenging and ever-changing. Changes make everyday planning difficult and long-range planning almost impossible. Most organizational change occurs at the “system” or “structural” level and little real attention is given to how change and transition affects the individual. Change creates confusion and chaos within the system and within each person it touches. You may find yourself asking: Will I have the same job this time next year as you have this year? How will this change affect my career plans? What am I giving up in moving forward with the planned change? What are the “new beginnings I need to embrace? Will I be in the same relationships in the future that I now? How do all changes in my work life affect my personal life? How do changes in my personal life affect my work life?

This 1-day workshop is focused on individual discovery of how to successfully navigate individual transitions amidst organization change.
